Broadening horizons

Develop your skills and stay up to date with our practical training courses and workshops for tour operators and DMCs.

Tourism is the most incredible industry in the world. We can make guests happy by offering tourist services. However, it takes plenty of knowledge and empathy to recognise the needs of customers time and time again. We have to organise our work processes and communication channels in such a way that we are very close to people. This certainly requires a great deal of knowledge and a high level of professionalism, too. Needs change, reasons for and ways of travelling change. In short: tourism professionals are constantly faced with new challenges, regardless of their own company’s position along the tourism value chain.

We want to help tourism companies and employees in tourism to always offer the right thing. Since every company is different and different issues are always relevant, there are various ways to provide support.

Online seminars in mixed groups

Central issues facing tourism companies are dealt with online in a small group one morning at a time.
Find out more about the following topics:

Economic aspects of group trips

This topic is of interest to all tourism experts who, as travel agencies or service providers, want to enter the field of in-house travel management. We take a brief look at the key issues surrounding in-house travel management.

On: 18 June, 2025 – 10 am to 1 pm
Cost: €95

Adventure and experiences during the trip

Many people want to feel new sensations and have experiences while travelling. How do special offers help to sell holidays better? How do the so-called experiences find their way to the customer? The workshop is just as relevant for providers of experiences as it is for travel agencies or tour operators in order to offer a customer-oriented experience on trips.

On: 16 July, 2025 – 10 am to 1 pm
Cost: €95

Change and innovation management

The COVID pandemic has shown that tourism companies with explicit change and innovation management have come through the crisis better than others. But how does it work? What are the differences between change and organisational management, and where do they come together? These questions are addressed in the workshop for company owners and employees on the basis of best practice examples.

On: 15 October, 2025 – 10 am to 1 pm
Cost: €95

Tour guides and experience creators

Tour guides are experience creators. Every tourist offer depends on the specific quality of communication between guests and experience organisers. We help with the further training of tour guides to meet the individual needs of their special guests, and the possible topics for further training are varied. Sometimes further training in intercultural communication is required. For other organisers, further training is required with regard to special topics, such as wine tourism or cultural tourism. Service quality can be just as much an issue as emergency and crisis management.

The possible training formats are just as diverse. In some cases, online workshops are useful. For other topics, training sessions lasting several days in the target region should be planned. Contact us. We organise specific training measures following a detailed needs assessment.

Seminars for individual companies in-house or online

Of course, we can also offer all seminar programmes exclusively for individual companies.

Your expert

Rulf J. Treidel would like to provide owners and employees of the many small and medium-sized companies in the tourism industry with the tools to optimally design sustainable tourism products. In doing so, he has got to know many facets of tourism himself in recent years.

As a graduate historian, he has always been fascinated by foreign cultures and so started as a study tour guide for the traditional brand Dr. Tigges. There he was able to give many people new impressions of life not only in the Spanish-speaking world. He also led these study tours in the Middle East, Iceland, the British Isles and Brazil, for example. Here he learned how important even the small, seemingly insignificant experiences along the way are for travellers. For many years, he has been driven by the question of how tourism can help to make the world a better place. How do the special offers of small providers find their way to curious people from all over the world?

During his more than twenty years of experience as a tourism division manager at a medium-sized study and adventure tour operator associated with TUI, he gained the practical business know-how to lead tourism companies to success.

He is professor of the chair ‘Management in Tourism’ at the University of Applied Sciences in Bielefeld. He sees it as his mission to convey to young people the opportunities of business thinking and how to start their own business.
